Don Toliver Shows Us His Life With New Album

Up-and-coming hip-hop star Don Toliver released his most recent project last Friday that has fans going crazy. Life Of A Don is the latest project from the Houston native and features some huge names in the industry right now.

Known as the protégé to Travis Scott, Don Toliver first made waves back in 2020 with the singles “Lemonade” and “After Party.” Before that, Toliver had a small breakthrough on Travis Scott’s 2018 project Astroworld on the song “Can’t Say.”

Since then, Toliver signed to Scott’s Cactus Jack imprint label and released his debut album. Heaven Or Hell received a lot of great feedback at the beginning of 2020 and solidified Toliver as one of the best new acts in music.

Now he is following up with Life Of A Don a year later looking to recreate the same magic. The album’s production credits go to Mike Dean, one of the greatest producers of all time. And with such a reliable name leading the engineering and beats, the album’s sound is on point.

The album features appearances from Travis Scott, Baby Keem, Kali Uchis, and more. However, for the most part, Don attacks this project by himself trying to create some hits in the process. Overall the quality of the project is amazing and lead singles like “Drugs N Hella Melodies” and “Flocky Flocky” are pretty catchy. But after a while, every song on the album starts to sound the same. Don doesn’t go too far in experimenting with new sounds or content so there is nothing we haven’t heard from him before.

But hey, if the formula isn’t broke, then don’t fix it. When it comes to social media, people are still loving the new album and we are sure some of these tracks will be on the charts.

What’s Next For Don Toliver?

2021 has been quite the year for the rap star. On top of being featured in one of the biggest projects this year with Kanye West‘s DondaToliver also announced he will open for The Weeknd’s After Hours Tour in 2022.
