A Heartfelt, Timeless Album
Run, Rose, Run isn’t anything particularly groundbreaking from Dolly, but it sure is fun. On “Big Dreams and Faded Jeans,” Dolly serves up the classic motif of the struggling songwriter trying to make it in Nashville. We know she’s speaking from experience, but with Dolly’s enduring talent and prowess, it’s hard to imagine that was ever her situation. She shows us an undeniably bubbly bluegrass side on “Firecracker” and “Dark Night, Bright Future.” She’s as sassy and commanding as ever, singing, “You can lose a finger if you’re pointing it at me” on “Firecracker.”
Run, Rose, Run, the novel co-authored by Dolly Parton and James Patterson hits the shelves on March 7. In addition, country star Kelsea Ballerini narrates the audiobook with Dolly. March 7 is also a big day for Dolly because she’ll be hosting the 57th annual Country Music Awards. The awards are streaming live on Amazon Prime at 8 pm.
