With the exception of a few sleepy weekends in January, we’ve gotten a significant album release nearly every Friday so far in 2025, or at the very least, a circled-on-the-calendar event that prompted serious chart shakeups. Save for the Oscars, we returned to a quieter landscape for this week, allowing us to get a sense of what our Trending Tracks rankings would look like “at rest” or in a “default state.” In parsing through the data, Doechii, Sabrina Carpenter and Tate McRae emerge as some trending faces—here are our biggest takeaways.
Doechii Marches On In Star Turn As Debut Album Looms
Beginning with Doechii, her appearance on “Anxiety” by Sleepy Hallow rockets up the chart this week, a development that prompted the TDE multi-hyphenate to release a solo version to streaming services. The success of both her individual cut and the duo effort propelled the song to #29 in our tabulation, the highest for a non-“Denial Is A River” track since last year. Though she’s close to becoming a household name at this point, it is worth noting that at least from a commercial standpoint, those two songs remain the two load-bearing pillars in her ascension, potentially a blessing if you subscribe to the “leave them wanting more” philosophy. Specifically, the closest Doechii release on our ranking since the release of Alligator Bites Never Heal has been “Nissan Altima,” hovering around the #100 mark in each of those weeks.
Continued presence in mainstream music and some crossover moments in the world of fashion means that the Louisiana native doesn’t have to worry a bit about her name falling out of consciousness any time soon; welcome news as she hammers out details regarding her debut album. There’s some absolute “have your cake and eat it too” potential—not many can plot their first full-length while already such a hot commodity.
Sabrina Carpenter And Tate McRae Ensure Pop Stars Are As Relevant As Ever
Speaking of, Sabrina Carpenter deserves mention in discussions of this year’s defining names. The Short and Sweet superstar had her crowning moment in 2024, but a deluxe victory lap for this record is paying dividends nearly 10 months after it landed. Namely, “Busy Woman” threatens to join the cadre of mega-hits that kept Sabrina at an inescapable level since last Summer. A #51 ranking for the single and a #46 for “Espresso” signals precisely that.

Though she was a big winner in last week’s rankings, we should note the continuing presence of Tate McRae in our Trending Tracks list. As promised in that earlier piece, many of the tracks from her So Close To What further shot up, settling into personal rotations and fully revealing their omnipresence after the album hit a whole week in public hands. If there’s one song emerging as the defining single of this era for the rising talent, it’s “Sports Car,” sneaking into the top quartile at #21. “Revolving Door,” “Dear God,” “I Know Love,” “Miss Possessive” and “Purple Lace Bra” make appearances as we look towards the #75 position.
As always, you can find all of these records wherever you stream your music or catch up on all of our Trending Tracks with the playlist embedded below.
