Everyone’s favorite French DJ David Guetta lands another popstar collaboration. This time, he’s working with German sensation Kim Petras for “When We Were Young (The Logical Song).” Guetta’s Supertramp-sampled track was a festival favorite during his 2023 summer tour stops, including EDC and Ultra Miami, yet had not received an official release until now.
Guetta and Petras enter a Eurodance psychosis on “When We Were Young,” stitching a pitched-up interpolation of Supertramp’s 1979 classic, “The Logical Song.” Nothing short of a high BPM stormer, the single incorporates hyperpop influences and classic ’90s piano into Guetta’s peerless sound. “When we were young it seemed that life was so wonderful,” goes the earworm chorus, with Kim Petras providing the nostalgic verses about the innocence of youth.
The Grammy-winning “Unholy” singer has had a year of chart-topping collaborations with Nicki Minaj, City Girls and Meghan Trainor. But Petras’s most recent effort is another BPM chaser with DJ James Hype, titled “Drums.” “Drums” is a house-infused track sampling Justin Timberlake’s “Like I Love You.”
The single’s accompanying music video—directed by Hannah Lux Davis—features Petras in kitsch fashion. It follows previous releases “Baby Don’t Hurt Me,” featuring pop megastars Anne-Marie and Coi Leray, and “I’m Good (Blue)” with Bebe Rexha. Watch the new music video below!
