Danny Goo’s “Feel for You” Could’ve Been An MTV Hit

SHARE

Danny Goo’s “Feel for You” EP exemplifies the feelings of first falling in love. The trepidation and excitement of that feeling encompasses much of the record. His new music video for the title track touches on that, as well.

Starting Off With a ‘90s Inspired Bang!

Coming in at just under four minutes, the track is a grunge approach to a pop love song. Much of what Goo does falls in the post-pop, alternative rock category. Therefore, this song, and the EP as a whole, is no different.

The romantic track begins with the lyrics “Being with you, Nothing I’d rather do. Never want to think about me losing you. I’m so into you.”

As he quietly sings these heartfelt lyrics, the blonde-haired singer-songwriter is seen using a corded, pink phone. On top of the questionable lack of smartphone, Goo’s hand is also wooden.

Adding to the throwback, nineties grunge vibe of the song is the styling of the video and use of cool-toned colors. In addition, the VHS tape graphics make people watching Danny Goo’s “Feel for You” video think it’s on MTV. (A lot of artists are adapting this vintage nature, including performers like Yungblud and Harry Styles.)

Closing Out Danny Goo’s “Feel for You” Video With a Modern-Day Message

All the musician wants is to be connected to this other person, whether it be through the phone or face-to-face. Although paying homage to another era of music, this song explains the want and need be near people you care about. During the COVID-19 pandemic, listeners can understand that more than ever.

This alt-rock love song cherishes relationships without any ifs, ands, or buts. Danny Goo himself wants to be vulnerable and showcase the honesty (and artistry) that comes with that.

At the end of the song, the post-punk performer croons “Didn’t expect to feel that way for you,” twice. The repetition of this line is almost allowing listeners to hear Goo convince himself of the reality of being in love. It tapers off into instrumentation as the video wraps up with the wooden hand dropping the phone. It’s ominous and unforgiving, but new love can feel that way.

Danny Goo’s “Feel for You” music video and EP is self-reflective and raw, but also inspiring and romantic. Like his career thus far, this project is new and genre-defying. Goo is an original indie act out of Dallas who won’t keep his talents, or his love, stuck in a box..
