City Girls and Usher have collaborated on the latest summer song, “Good Love.”
“Good Love” is the New Summer Bop
American rap duo City Girls have collaborated with Usher on their newest single, “Good Love.” The song is a fun, summer vibe full of nostalgia. The music video has roller skating, cookouts, parties, bright colors, and a 90s feel. Much of it was actually shot at the famous Atlanta roller rink, Cascades. City Girls and Usher get the chance to show off their roller-skating skills.
The song itself is upbeat, electro, and samples Lathun’s “Freak It.” It mixes Usher’s smooth singing with the City Girls’ brash, yet rhythmic rapping. Usher opens the song with the chorus before handing it off to Yung Miami for the first verse. Usher then sings the chorus again before JT raps on the second verse. Finally, Usher sings the chorus one last time, closing the song. Many song collaborations often feel as if you only ever hear the featured artist once or twice. City Girls, however, have made sure that “Good Love” is a true collaboration. Check out the official music video below!
City Girls Continue to Take the World by Storm
The City Girls originated in Miami, Florida. After signing with record label Quality Control Music, the duo debuted at No. 14 on Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart. According to Xander Zellner at Billboard, they also earned entries on both the Billboard 200 and the Billboard Hot 100. In May of 2018, the rappers released their debut mixtape, Period, and, later that year, their debut studio album, Girl Code. Girl Code featured artists such as Cardi B, Lil Baby, and Jacquees. City Girls were quickly making a name for themselves. Girl Code debuted at No. 63 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Following their second studio album, City on Lock, City Girls have yet to drop any hints about when their third album will be released. Listeners can only hope that they have more singles and collaborations to look forward to for now.
