Chris Stapleton Wins Best Album, Announces New Tour

Chris Stapleton Keeps on Winning

Chris Stapleton, country music singer-songwriter, won Album of the Year at the 2021 ACM Awards. He won for his latest album, Starting Over.

It is not his first Academy of Country Music Award win. In fact, it is his ninth win at the event and his sixth year nominated in a row. To clarify, this streak started with his first attendance in 2016, the year he picked up five out of the six categories he earned nominations for. That includes Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, New Male Vocalist of the Year, and Male Vocalist of the Year.

Of his most recent win, he had this to say at the podium.

“We worked really hard to make music. And we think a lot about it. It means a lot. It really does.”

Chris Stapleton remains humble despite his numerous wins, including five Grammy Awards, ten Country Music Association Awards, five Billboard Music Awards, two iHeartRadio Music Awards, and nine ASCAP Country awards.

In addition to winning at the ACM Awards this year, he performed his tune “Maggie’s Song” alongside fellow country music star Miranda Lambert.

The Art of Starting Over

2020’s Starting Over is the fourth studio album by Stapleton. A 14-track odyssey, Stapleton muses on everything from love, joy, pain, and, of course, starting over. The album’s breakout hit, “Cold,” is a heartbreaking rumination on love gone wrong. Stapleton’s gritty voice is over his prototypical band: acoustic guitar, bass, and drums. However, the song also features an orchestra with strings that cry out in pain as powerfully as the singer. A surprise electric guitar solo doesn’t hurt the soundscape, either.

Chris Stapleton’s lyrical world is structured by many stories of heartbreak. Funny enough, he is happily married. Starting Over features a duet with his wife and fellow songwriter, Morgane Stapleton, too!

The country artist has also just announced his new tour, the All-American Roadshow. He’ll be kicking it off this summer and ending it at the start of the next. In between, he’ll be touring all over the U.S. with artists like Elle King, Mavis Staples, and Sheryl Crow.

You can listen to the award-winning, acclaimed Starting Over on your favorite streaming platform now. To buy tickets for the tour, check out Stapleton’s website.
