Cher Celebrates Christmas Early With New Festive Album

“I never say this about my own records but I’m really proud of this one. It is one of the most amazing highlights of my career,” Cher said.

“My life seems to be longer than any other human being ever,” Cher tells The Guardian, kicking off her first Christmas album in her decades-long career. After an immediate adversary towards her manager’s suggestion, the proclaimed “Goddess of Pop” contemplated what she could do differently—a woman with six decades’ worth of music, tours, mouth-watering outfits and unbeatable videos behind her.

The release of "Christmas" may be an unorthodox festive gesture from Cher, but the 13-track record bolsters unforgettable superstar duets.

The release of Christmas is Cher’s ingenious solution, an unorthodox festive gesture. Marking her first studio album in five years, the 13-track record bolsters unbelievable features including Darlene Love, Stevie Wonder, Michael Bublé, Cyndi Lauper and former flame Tyga.

“I never say this about my own records but I’m really proud of this one. It is one of the most amazing highlights of my career,” commented Cher.

While the 77-year-old icon strayed away from releasing verbatim classics, Cher created superstar duets of “What Christmas Means To Me” with Stevie Wonder and “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” with Darlene Love. Other cuts on the album are wholly left-field, like a cover of the Zombies’ rapturous “This Will Be Our Year,” from their 1968 cult masterpiece Odessey and Oracle

“Every time I hear that harmonica, I’m a teenager again. It’s a personal dream come true for me to record this song with Stevie,” Cher said about her duet with Stevie Wonder on “What Christmas Means To Me.”

Two other standouts include an unexpected pairing with Tyga on another Sara Hudson song called “Drop Top Sleigh Ride” and the magnificent “Angels in the Snow,” plus “Put A Little Holiday In Your Heart” with Cyndi Lauper.

Cher is also celebrating the 25th anniversary of her multi-platinum Grammy-winning “Believe” with the release of Believe 25th Anniversary (Deluxe Edition) on Warner Records.
