Welcome to Music Daily’s Trending Tracks, where we highlight the artists and trends occupying the music industry’s attention. Some come out of the woodwork, others have endured a months-long crusade to greatness. Nonetheless, all of them are captivating the short-circuited minds of Gen-Z social media users.

This week, music’s newest starlet, Chappell Roan, has an Ariana Grande-like, star-making moment with her hot single, “Good Luck, Babe!” Other entries include the smoldering Teddy Swims, BTS’ golden child Jung Kook and more!

“Good Luck, Babe!” by Chappell Roan

From unwilling audience participation to a nearly 50,000-person crowd at the “Hot To Go” singer’s non-headlining set at New York City’s Govener’s Ball, Chappell Roan’s first-class ticket to stardom is for the history books. All roads trace back to the 2024 Coachella desert. The drag-inspired persona doused her latest single—”Good Luck, Babe!”—with a certain nostalgic grit and aesthetically cathartic screaming that gave every queer goosebumps. While “Good Luck, Babe!” lacks a certain virality, the surprise release peaked at No. 40 on the Billboard Hot 100—her highest position yet. Roan’s growing (and fantastically queer) fanbase also pushed her previously non-charting debut album to a whopping No.12 on the Billboard 200 albums chart—revalidating that a star is, indeed, born! “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims

R&B’s most unpredicted star, Teddy Swims, lamented on the genre’s never-ending theme, love, for his hit song, “Lose Control.” In a press release, the Atlanta-born singer says: “Being in love can be like an addiction sometimes – always chasing the highs from the lows. It’s about losing yourself and losing control when it all starts to cave in and thinking that the only way out is through being with that person, chasing that feeling over and over again.” With a very Amy Winehouse-coded voice, flavored with enough blues and rasp, Swims had a steady rise on the BH100 for over 40 weeks, peaking at No. 1. “the boy is mine” by Ariana Grande

Inspired by Brady and Monica’s iconic 1998 duet, Ariana Grande’s version is more “naughty,” according to Amazon Music. “That’s gonna be everyone’s favorite, unfortunately. It’s like a sexier, naughtier one, and I think it’s more provocative than the rest [of the album],” she said. “I’m such a 90s baby: I have so many 90s interpolation ideas, samples, in my brain but this one finally found a home.” The new album single spawned viral TikTok dance challenges (highlighted by a rendition from NewJeans’ HANNI) and a steamy music video with You actor Penn Badgley. A new remix featuring the OGs Brandy and Monica is coming June 21, as they also cameoed in the Cat Woman-inspired music video. Stream “the boy is mine” by Ariana Grande below.

“Never Let Go” by Jung Kook

This house-rhythm track from Jung Kook of BTS was released for the group’s annual debut anniversary celebration. “Never Let Go” expresses the love and appreciation he has for ARMY, BTS’ fanbase, using ear-grabbing synths and delicious repetition. The anniversary track marked Jung Kook’s first appearance on the BB100 in 2024, peaking at No. 97. In other BTS news, Jin was recently discharged from mandatory Korean military service. “Rock Your Hips” by 310babii, OhGeesy & BlueBucksClan

Out of this week’s Trending Tracks, “Rock Your Hips” narrowly earns first place in TikTok virality. The new hip-hop track sports nearly 90,000 videos using the sound, scooting Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!” to second place. Why? Users are “getting sturdy” with their favorite amusement park mascots, showing off their best moves, or imitating others’ best moves. There’s no way of getting it wrong. Follow 310babii’s only direction and “rock your hips!” Stream “Rock Your Hips” by 310babii, OhGeesy & BlueBucksClan below.
