It’s been a while since Camila Cabello last blessed us with new music. Luckily for us, the singer is finally back with new music. She kicked off a new era with the single “Don’t Go Yet.”
“Don’t Go Yet” is Purely Inspired by her Latin Roots
“Don’t Go Yet” is a fresh and uplifting song that makes us wants to dance and sing along. Inspired by her Latin roots, Camila gives us a glimpse of what she has been working on this past year since the pandemic started. Even though it’s an almost all-English song, the music that accompanies the lyrics is purely Latin-infused.
“I imagine myself in satin, the room was platinum and gold. I’d dance and catch your eye, you’ll be mesmerized, oh. We’d find a corner, then your hands in my hair. Finally we’re here, so, why. Are you sayin’ you got a flight, need an early night? No, don’t go yet,” Camila sings.
The music video for “Don’t Go Yet” takes us to a family telenovela. Starring Camila herself, she drives her car to a mansion where the rest of her family is waiting for her. There, the story officially begins, and we see the entire family dance along while wearing extravagant outfits.
Camila Announced Her Forthcoming Album Familia
Camila couldn’t have selected a better way to start her new era. After the song was released, she announced “Don’t Go Yet” as the official lead single off her forthcoming album Familia. A release date hasn’t been announced yet, but hopefully, we don’t have to wait too long!
“This album was inspired by two things: family & food,” Camila tweeted celebrating the release. “Your family by blood, but also your chosen family. Who you want to sit at the dinner table, get wine-drunk, & dance in the living room with.”
She added, “To me, those are the moments that make me glad to be alive, those moments of collective joy & true vulnerability & connection with other people. I hope you enjoy it & I hope it inspires many wine drunk kitchen dance parties for you & your familia.”
