Calvin Harris Drops “Stay With Me” ft. Justin Timberlake, Halsey, and Pharrell

On July 15th, Calvin Harris dropped “Stay With Me” with Justin Timberlake, Halsey, and Pharrell. The track comes just weeks after he collaborated with 21 Savage on “New Money” and Dua Lipa and Young Thug on “Poison.” “Stay With Me,” along with its two predecessors, is part of Harris’ next album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2, which releases on August 5th.

“Stay With Me” is Reminiscent

“Stay With Me” is a groovy, disco track with features from some of music’s biggest stars. Halsey’s whisper tones compliment a polished, funky production while Justin Timberlake’s vocals create a shiny contrast. Pharrell adds a kind of cohesiveness that binds the three singers and DJ together. This is perhaps most reminiscent of tracks from Harris’ Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, which was wildly popular among the EDM/dance scene.

Calvin Harris’ New Sound

Calvin Harris is dropping a slew of singles before the release of Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2, perhaps to prepare fans for his evolved sound. Though “Stay With Me” sounds similar to a mix of songs from his 2017 album, fans note that the production is still quite different. Calvin’s newest tracks display an evolution in his mixing and vocal processing. Still, his most recent drop is undoubtedly a song for the summer.

“Stay With Me” Music Video

Halsey, Justin Timberlake, and Pharrell all star in the “Stay With Me” music video, which is just as groovy as the song itself. All three singers are dressed in bright, clashing colors and overlayed with trancelike screen effects. Pharrell and JT serenade us through a kaleidoscope while Halsey sings on top of a red convertible, making for a largely entertaining music video.

Upcoming Album and Features

Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2 is set to be as star-studded as the first, with features from Tinashe, Normani, Lil Durk, Offset, and more. Calvin Harris posted to his social media about all of the album’s features, though the title and numbers of each track are unclear.
