June 13: Anita Pallenberg: music lover, famous for being musicians lover
Many women in the 60s and 70s gained notoriety in the music industry for being chosen by artists and musicians from the crowd. From one moment to the other, for any woman it was possible to achieve the dream of leaving the groupie status to become an internationally acclaimed musician’s muse or lover.
It was the case of Anita Pallenberg, which was not only The Rolling Stones’ muse and the inspiration behind hits like “You Got The Silver” and “Happy,” but also one of the reason for the band’s early problems.
The artist was in fact dating early guitarist and band founder Brian Jones, which he left for Keith Richards, as well member and iconic guitarist of the band. The new relationship caused not few problems, since it was one of the – many – reasons behind Jones’ estrangement from the group. From 1967 to 1980, Pallenberg and Richards were together, and also had three children. During these years however Pallenberg allegedly also had a fling with the band’s singer and frontman Mick Jagger while working on a movie together. However, neither of them confirmed.
Despite being famous for her correlation with the English band, Pallenberg was an amazing and successful model, actress and stylist. Her influence on the fashion side was incredible, and also The Rolling Stones had their fair share of inspiration from the artist’s flair.
On this day in 2017, the Italian artist sadly passed away at the age of 75.
