Welcome to Music Daily’s Trending Tracks, where we highlight the artists and trends occupying the music industry’s attention. Some come out of the woodwork, others have endured a months-long crusade to greatness. Nonetheless, all of them are captivating the short-circuited minds of Gen-Z social media users.

Today, Bruno Mars tops himself on the charts, replacing the swoony Lady Gaga duet, “Die With A Smile,” with his pop-punk collaboration with BLACKPINK’s Rosé, titled “APT.” On Oct. 19, “APT.” reached a new peak of #2 on the Global Spotify Daily Chart with 10.1 million streams, highest streaming day for a K-pop female artist. Ahead, singles country hitmaker Morgan Wallen and the nostalgia-core girl in red also top this week’s Trending Tracks chart!

“Love Somebody” by Morgan Wallen

Morgan Wallen’s latest single, “Love Somebody,” released on October 18, 2024, marks his most pop-friendly track yet, blending country with Latin influences. The song’s sharp lyrics, like, “Can’t keep my name out they mouth,” contrast with its heartfelt chorus: “I just wanna love somebody / Who won’t leave a hole in my heart.” Wallen expresses a longing for real, stable love amid past heartbreak. “Love Somebody” is the first taste of his upcoming project, following the success of his 2023 album, One Thing at a Time. “APT.” by Rosé & Bruno Mars

Rosé is the latest K-pop girl group BLACKPINK member to go solo in 2024. Under an exclusive contract between THEBLACKLABEL and Atlantic Records, she enlists American hitmaker Bruno Mars to outdo his current duet ballad with Lady Gaga, “Die With A Smile”—and, boy, do they have a smash hit. Inspired by a favorite Korean drinking game, Rosé turned a fun studio moment into this playful Avril Lavigne-esque track. “APT.” is the lead single from Rosé’s first studio album, rosie, arriving December 6th. The 12-track album marks Rosé’s most personal work, with her co-writing and co-producing every song. Stream “APT.” by Rosé & Bruno Mars below!

“We Fell in Love in October” by girl in red

girl in red’s “We Fell in Love in October” is a cozy yet haunting reflection on first love. “Smoking cigarettes on the roof, you look so pretty, and I love this view,” she whispers grandiose declarations of admiration. As the echoing chorus of “My girl, my girl, my girl, you will be my girl” fades in and out of the melody, the Norwegian singer crafts a faded postcard of love lost one can’t seem to shake. Since its 2018 release, “We Fell in Love in October,” an essential girl in red track, accumulated over one billion Spotify streams and earned platinum certifications from the RIAA and IFPI Norway.
