Benson Boone Releases New “PULSE” EP

Benson Boone begins a new era with his highly-anticipated EP, PULSE. Last year’s Walk Me Home… EP solidified his spot as a pop’s newest “sad boy,” but Boone’s new five-track project is soft pop heaven. In March, he confirmed with PEOPLE that his debut album is also coming this year.

“I want people to know I’m not just some guy who cries in his room and writes ballads. I’m more than that.”

Boone tells PEOPLE

The PULSE EP begins with “Coffee Cake,” a bouncy, boisterous digression on laid-back breakfasts and sparkling conversation. It’s followed by the playful pop gem “Lovely Darling” and his recent single, the introspective “What Was.”

However, the EP’s highlight comes from the bluesy piano-driven track “Little Runaway.” The atmospheric slow-pulsing production feels like a throwback to the intimacy of Boone’s previous releases. “Won’t you come, and we can stare at the stars,” he gently pleads on the single’s chorus, adding, “And look at the comets from the roof of my car. Little runaway, I know it’s been hard.”

With the release of “Sugar Sweet,” Boone announced his 18-date summer tour in the U.S. Throughout June, the ‘PULSE’ tour will hit cities like New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Salt Lake City. Check here for ticket information.

“I am really excited for the U.S. tour,” Boone tells PEOPLE. “I’ve done a lot of stuff in Europe and Australia and New Zealand and [people are] like, ‘Where’s the U.S. shows?’ Well, they’re coming! They’re coming soon!”
