World Unite for Ukraine

After the beginning of the war in Ukraine, many mobilised to collect some money to help those affected by the fighting in the country. This includes the World Unite for Ukraine benefit concert, organised in support of the human crisis.

As stated on the official site of the concert, World Unite for Ukraine is a movement aimed at uniting millions of people around the world in a common goal to help ease the suffering of the Ukrainian people by raising funds for the US-Ukraine Foundation (USUF).

The event will be streamed around the world on Mandolin, on June 16th at 8 pm Eastern Daylight Time. People will also be able to stream the concert on-demand for 7 days after the initial broadcast.

All proceeds will go to aid the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine through USUF.

In this concert, multiple incredible artists will take part. This includes nothing less than American indie pop trio AJR and 70s progressive rock band Pink Floyd. The band recently released a song in support of Ukraine, Hey Hey Rise Up featuring Andriy Khlyvnyuk of Boombox. Pink Floyd recorded their “Marooned” music video in Pripyat, Ukraine. This makes their homage here even more poignant.

Unfortunately, the band won’t play in their original lineup. Sadly the remaining members David Gilmour and Nick Mason won’t be joined by songwriter and keyboard player of the band Richard Wright. He passed in 2008.  Roger Waters won’t be performing as well since he left the band in 1985.

The 90+-minute event will also include leaders, actors, athletes and volunteers from the United States, Canada, Israel and all of Europe.
