Adele has announced that she will be rescheduling her Las Vegas residency run. No new dates have been set yet. Meanwhile admist the furor, Adele has confirmed her Brit Awards performance for February 8th.
Adele is “Gutted” to Have to Postpone the Residency
Adele shared in a tearful video posted to her Instagram that part of the cancellation was that a big part of her crew had contracted Covid-19. “I’m so sorry, but my show ain’t ready. We’ve tried absolutely everything that we can to pull it together in time and for it to be good enough for you, but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID. Half my crew, half my team are down with COVID. They still are. And it’s been impossible to finish the show. And I can’t give you what I have right now.”
She continued, “I’m gutted… I’m sorry it’s so last minute. We’ve been awake for over 30 hours trying to figure it out, and … we’ve run out of time. And I’m so upset and I’m really embarrassed and I’m so sorry to everyone that traveled again. I’m really, really sorry. I’m really sorry. We’re going to reschedule all of the dates, we’re on it right now. And I’m going to finish my show, and I’m going to get it where it’s supposed to be for you. I’m so sorry.”
She Offered Gifts For Fans Who Traveled to Las Vegas as an Apology
The video was posted one day before the residency was set for its opening night. To make it up to fans who had already traveled to Las Vegas for the weekend, the “Easy On Me” singer spent part of Friday night FaceTiming with some of them. She had a member of her team hand an iPhone to fans who were shopping for merchandise at The Colosseum shop adjacent to the venue’s entrance.
Also, as an apology, she offered fans a free merch package and drinks. Fans who presented a concert ticket to one of Adele’s shows received a gift tote bag with a specifically made T-shirt, magnets, and keychain. The gift shop will continue to offer gifts to ticket holders for an unknown period of time.
The 24-date Weekends With Adele residency was initially scheduled to run from January 21 until 16 April at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Two shows per weekend were scheduled to take place. Other artists such as Katy Perry and Keith Urban are offering to cover some of those dates.
Is There Another Reason For The Postponement?
Although Adele shared her side of the story on her Instagram video apology about the residency’s postponement; there are rumors going around that she, in fact, decided to do so in order to work on her relationship with her partner, Rich Paul. People say that the couple was having some issues, and thus, Adele wasn’t in the best mental state to go ahead with such big performances. Guess we’ll have to wait and hope for the best.
Do you think Adele will in fact postpone the shows to a new date, or that the residency will never happen?
