Addison Rae Makes Music Debut With “Obsessed”

TikTok star Addison Rae launched her career into the pop music scene by launching her debut single, “Obsessed.” It’s an upbeat pop track that features production from renowned record producer Benny Blanco. He has most notably produced songs for superstars Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, and many others.

Addison’s First Step Into the Pop Music World

The single expresses how Addison’s significant other says he’s is literally “obsessed” with her. Addison then agrees with him, saying she’s also obsessed with herself. Some lyrics of the song include, “You say you’re obsessed with me… so I took a second, and I said, ‘Me too.’ I’m obsessed with me as much as you. Say you’d die for me, I’d die for me too. And if I lost you, I’d still have me – I can’t lose. When you say that you’re obsessed with me, me too.”

Sharing the meaning behind the song with Vogue, Addison explains that she is saying there’s more to it than what the audience might get at a first glance. “One could take it as being vainly obsessed with yourself, but that’s not what I’m trying to communicate. It’s more ‘I can love myself as much as you love me,’ and that’s important. There are days where I struggle – and it’s definitely a work in progress to accept who I am and give myself the love I deserve – but that message was so strong, and I wanted to communicate it [in the lyrics]. I wanted to find out who I was as an artist before I put something out into the world.”

In an Instagram caption on the date of the single release, Addison Rae wrote, “I’m so emotional right now. This song makes me feel so many things!!! I love music. That’s all.”

We’ll have to keep an eye on Addison to see what she has in store next. In the meantime, we can enjoy “Obsessed.” Maybe a TikTok trend dancing along to the song will start soon!
