Hot from their upcoming album, The Rolling Stones share their new song, “Sweet Sounds Of Heaven,” featuring Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder. The gospel-influenced single is the second release from their new studio album, Hackney Diamonds, out on October 20 via Geffen Records.
According to NME, the group will release a documentary about the creation of their new album.
Amid a spontaneous genesis, “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” features a bravura vocal performance by Lady Gaga, alongside Stevie Wonder on Fender Rhodes, Moog and piano. “She’s a really great singer and I’d never heard her sing quite that style before,” said legendary vocalist Mick Jagger.
Both icons performed with the Grammy-winning rock group, with Gaga performing with the Rolling Stones onstage as part of the 50 & Counting tour in 2012 and Wonder touring with the Stones on their American Tour in 1972, regularly performing a medley of “Satisfaction” and “Uptight (Everything’s Alright)” together.
The Stones recently launched Hackney Diamonds at a globally live streamed event from Hackney Empire in East London. The live stream was followed by the premiere of the video for “Angry” starring Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney. The album is their first set of new material since 2005’s A Bigger Bang.
Since then, the Stones have continued to smash box office records on a series of global sell-out tours and released 2016’s Blue & Lonesome, which featured their brilliant reinterpretation of blues classics. Last year, The Stones amassed nearly $250 million revenue on their anniversary Sixty tour in Europe.
