Oklahoma-born artist 44phantom gets serious with over two million streams, opening for Machine Gun Kelly and releasing his latest single, “Hurricane.” The new track was executive produced by MGK and produced by Erik Ron (Godsmack, Panic! At The Disco).
Because of his notably independent status, it comes as no shock he landed a deal earlier this year with Columbia Records. While averaging a steady 680k monthly listeners, 44phantom’s buzz definitely landed with Music Daily, earning him a Music Discovery Highlight!

The song was actually played multiple times before release, during Machine Gun Kelly’s 2022 “Mainstream Sellout” tour. 44phantom was opening in Europe alongside Iann Dior.
Distorted guitars and raspy vocals open the track with a Post Malone-esque melody. In the chorus, 44phantoms loses his cool in the face of love that does not benefit him. However, he also alludes to his mental health as a lone contributor to the relationship troubles.
“Come waste your time with me, getting high with me / So I can tell my fuckin’ therapist I’m ripping out my hair again / I got a hurricane, it’s inside of my head / And I can’t feel a thing, but it’s better than dead / I need a cigarette, just to take off the edgе.”
More About The Artist
Ever since 44phantom watched his cousins perform in a popular local band, he had a passion for music, penning his first song at eight years old. Notably, Brayton Matthews honors his late second cousin, carrying his family’s serendipitous connection to the number 44. Thus, came phantom44.
Besides, he takes inspiration from notable music innovators like Kurt Cobain, Carrie Underwood, Bob Dylan, Lil Wayne and Drake. 44phantom focuses on deep storytelling that reflects his journey from a small town to almost stardom.
In August, the grunge-pop artist released his single “don’t sleep, repeat” featuring Machine Gun Kelly.
